I so almost called this section 'Business Development' because it's more than just sales. I think outside the box and make long-term, strategic partnerships.

And let's face it, a 'salesperson' can still have really negative connotations!

However, to be clear, whilst Business Development is certainly part of my skill set, let's call this what it really is.

I'm proud to be a sales person! It's a challenging career and it has absolutely taught me the fundamentals to excel at helping small businesses in other areas too, such as marketing.

I'm a bit old school when it comes to sales and business development as I think cold calls count.

I've read plenty of contrary opinions on this as we rely more heavily on email and social media - but it's not like it's the scripted cheesy telesales stuff.

If you're passionate about what you do, and enjoy speaking with people to learn about their business, then one of the best things you can do is to pick up the phone.

I've been cold calling since the OLDEN DAYS when you could light a cigarette at your desk. We recorded client notes on pieces of card, and the booking form came through on the fax machine. I didn't even have a computer. And I'm not even THAT old!

My background is in business-to-business sales although I have recently spent a year doing consumer sales.

I not only don't mind punching out the calls (with a bit of research to make it relevant of course), but I genuinely love it.  Not many people can say that, which is why you need me on your team!
